The Family Educational Rights and 隐私 Act (FERPA) guarantees students certain rights with respect to their education records.

众议院法案1 (HB1), was passed by the Virginia General Assembly earlier this year, and becomes law on July 1, 2018. It prohibits a university from disclosing a student's email address, physical address or telephone number unless the student has affirmatively consented in writing to the disclosure.
